Solar Panels

Spain already breaking records in photovoltaics

Photovoltaics has become the fourth largest technology in the generation mix and is producing solar energy exponentially.

If we thought otherwise, we were wrong. All the adverse factors towards society in relation to the indiscriminate increases in electricity prices and the concern about climate change and the depletion of planet Earth have caused society to make a 360-degree turnaround to change its lifestyle and advocate the photovoltaic system of self-consumption with solar energy.

In fact, this change in society has led to record-breaking photovoltaics, which are producing solar energy exponentially.

Another highlight is that solar PV overtook hydro with the end of 2022 and became the third largest installed capacity technology.

An energy that is growing by leaps and bounds

According to the electricity system operator, REE, photovoltaic production has reached 21,001 GWh in 2022 compared to 20,954 GWh for the whole of 2021. This considerable increase means that photovoltaic energy has increased its production by 37.3% if we compare the last period of 2022 with that of 2021.

Photovoltaics is the energy that is undoubtedly growing by leaps and bounds in Spain and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. If we compare it with wind energy, which also represents a step forward for the care of the planet, it has grown by 3.4% in 2022, much lower than the growth of photovoltaic energy.

Thanks to this rise in photovoltaics, we can say that it has become the fourth technology in the generation mix. In this way, photovoltaic energy has become one of the main protagonists of renewable energy in Spain and this figure will continue to increase due to factors such as the incessant rise in electricity prices, the price of fuel, the rise in the shopping basket, the war in Ukraine and other aspects that only impoverish the population, which is forced to seek immediate solutions with great benefits in the short, medium and long term.

The target of the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) 2021-2030 is set to reach 39 GW by 2030, a modest and moderate target, as other countries such as Germany have set a target of 200 GW of PV by the same date, 2030.

As we can see, photovoltaic is the most present future of homes and industries and this is also motivated by the subsidies of each autonomous community that sometimes pay up to 55% of the installation.

It is undoubtedly the best time to make the leap to solar energy, especially considering that there are companies such as Social Energy®, which take care of absolutely everything.

Solar energy is here to stay and is already the planet’s present.
